Meet Our Clinician: Cristine Jordan, LPC

As part of our new blog series, we are thrilled to introduce you to Cristine Jordan, LPC, ABCST Sex Therapy Associate Under Consultation. Cris is a valued member of our team who brings a warm, authentic, and respectful approach to every session. She deeply values the diverse experiences, backgrounds, and cultures her clients bring and is committed to helping them navigate their healing journeys.

Cris specializes in several key areas, driven by a profound commitment to her clients' well-being.

The Journey to Counseling

Cris’s path to becoming a counselor began in the classroom. She shares, "In my role as a middle school and high school teacher, I supported students and families in finding a way through educational barriers. I realized that one of the greatest needs is for people to be heard. I really wanted to listen and support people in the hard things that they were trying to achieve for themselves. I wanted to be part of people's journey. That's when I went back to school to become a counselor."

Education and Specialized Training

Cris spent 14 years in education as a math and AVID teacher after graduating from Cal State Fullerton with a Bachelor of Arts in Liberal Studies. She went on to receive her Master's in Biblical Counseling from Dallas Theological Seminary. She has since continued her specialized education by completing the ABCST coursework for Sex Therapy Associates. Cris is also trained as a Prepare/Enrich Pre-marital Counselor, a RelateStrong Facilitator for marriages, and is actively working toward her certification as a Christian Sex Therapist through ABCST.

Areas of Specialization and Passion

Cris specializes in couples, sexual and emotional intimacy, and affair recovery. When asked why she cares so deeply about these areas, she shared: "Choosing to be in a relationship with someone requires a lot of trust. When trust is broken or fractured that can feel hopeless. I care so deeply about this area because I believe that sometimes relationships need someone to stand in the gap and hold on to hope when there feels like there's none, while allowing each individual to process what's healthy for them as individuals."

Witnessing Transformation

Cris has a powerful perspective on the life-changing impact of her work. "I have seen hope restored, divorce papers retracted, and families made whole. Many couples experience the life-changing work in my counseling office because they are able to hear one another, have empathy for each other, and connect like they haven't done before."

Staying Current and Engaged in the Field

To ensure she is always improving and staying current with the newest research, Cris keeps up with influential voices in the field. "The people I respect and align the most with are Dr. Clifford & Joyce Penner, Wendy Maltz, Ruth Cohen, and Doug Rosenau. I listen to a variety of podcasts featuring sex therapists to keep in touch with other’s views in the field."

She also follows the work of "Danisa Suarez- Author | Speaker | Therapist | Pastor | Co-Host of #SexoDivino on TBN Spanish-ENLACE."

Cris’s Quick Mental Health Tip

For a simple way to re-center and find perspective, Cris recommends: "Take a minute and go outside and get some fresh air. Not only does it help change the location, but too often we are sitting inside these boxes called buildings and forget that there's a whole world out there. I find it gives perspective, provides movement, it's grounding, it reminds your body to take care of itself and not dissociate or remain flooded."

A Personal Note

When she isn't focused on her clients, Cris enjoys a passion for laughter. "I love to laugh! I like telling jokes with my kids, being playful with my husband, and having fun with my nieces and nephews. Laughter is such great medicine!"
